Getting Started with ProcessZen
The key to a successful workflow is starting with the right process. Let's walk through planning and creating your first workflow:
1. Choose the Right Process
Start with a process that is:
• Recurring: Something your team does at least weekly
• Well-understood: A process you're familiar with and can document
• Multi-step: Involves 2-5 steps and at least two team members
Good examples include: client onboarding, content publishing, or employee onboarding.
2. Map Out Your Steps
Before building in ProcessZen, quickly outline:
• Who is responsible for each step?
• What information needs to be collected?
• What's the natural order of steps?
3. Create Your Workflow
Now let's build it in ProcessZen:
• Click + New Workflow in the top navigation
• Name your workflow and add a description
• Click + Add Step to create your first step
For each step, add:
• Title and Description: Clear instructions for the assignee
• Assignee: Who's responsible for this step
• Due Date: When this step should be completed
4. Start Your First Run
Time to put your workflow into action:
• Click Start Run on your template
• Fill in any required initial information
• ProcessZen will automatically notify the first assignee
Pro tip: Start with a real but low-stakes process. This lets you test and refine your workflow without disrupting critical operations.
